2019 年 10 月份时，Facebook 就开发了最新的消息应用程序——Threads，用于和最亲密的朋友之间私下共享图片的应用程序。在此，用户可以和 Instagram 的 Close Friend 列表快速分享照片、视频、状态和故事。
而如今，Instagram 就确认了该 Threads 应用程序将在今年年底，也就是 2021 年 12 月 31 日逐步淘汰。
Instagram 表示从 2021 年 11 月 23 日将开始通知 iPhone 和 Android 上的 Threads 用户。即便该 Threads 功能将逐步淘汰，但用户依旧可在 Instagram 应用程序上享有所有 Threads 的功能。
自 2019 年以来，Threads 已经作为单独的应用程序进行提供，让用户可以更轻松地和 Instagram 好友保持联系。但是，用户更喜欢在 Instagram 应用程序上进行联系。
