早前就有消息证实，马斯克将会以此前的计划以每股54.20美元、总计440亿美元的价格收购Twitter。而Twitter 官方也证实了这项消息，收到马斯克提交给美国证券交易委员会（SEC）文件，双方的交易将会继续。

作为收购案的主角，马斯克在昨天（ 10 月 19 日）特斯拉的财报中透露，“虽然很明显，我自己和其他投资者现在显然为 Twitter 付出了过高的价格，但在我看来，Twitter 的价值在未来将具有“倍数成长”的潜力。”

不仅如此，马斯克称 Twitter 是一种“已经枯萎了很长时间的资产”，并说到他对 Twitter 的“情况感到非常兴奋”。最后，马斯克表示他希望这项收购案能能够在法院规定的 10 月 28 日截止日期前，完成对 Twitter 的收购。

在4月份马斯克声称要收购Twitter后，便很快取得了Twitter的同意，不过后来马斯克很快又反悔并以假账号太多等理由拒绝购买，还在7月份时通知Twitter自己打算终止协议。之后Twitter也随即起诉马斯克试图强迫他完成收购。
